Large and beautiful oil on canvas depicting an elegant woman at the opera.
Signed Adolphe Demange and dated 1914.
A very careful work, delicately rendering the different materials: fabrics, fur, jewels, glasses.
It is most probably a portrait of a personality of the time.
Large gilded frame with foliage and heart-shaped scrolls.
View: height 193 cm, width 96 cm.
Frame: 10 cm. Small stains.
Adolphe Demange (1857-1927) was a French painter known for his oil portraits. He was an official portraitist under the French Third Republic.
