Léon Humbert Anthelme Dallemagne
Belley 1837 - Bourg-en-Bresse 1907
He came to Bourg-en-Bresse in 1860 to pursue a career in the judiciary. There Dallemagne meets Viot, an old friend of his father's, who encourages him to become a painter in view of his dispositions. After two years in the studio of François-Louis Français, he sent his first work (a landscape) to the Salon in 1865. He painted landscapes of the whole department: Bresse and Dombes, Buellas where he lived for a time, Vieu in Bugey where he was mayor. He has a love for the land of the Ain which he seeks to communicate with nuance in his works.
