Mercier Frères in Paris
Superb Louis XVI-style mahogany mottled glass display case.
It opens with two molded front doors and beveled glass.
Flat molded pediment with ears and reverse cavet, reserve cornice.
Rounded uprights and fluted spindle feet.
Finely chased gilded bronze ornamentation:
- Cornice with foliage, fleurons and lingotière.
- Uprights and mantel with asparagus tips and rudentures.
- Apron with acanthus leaves, feet with rings and sabots.
Mahogany interior, oak back.
Rack and pinion lock.
Fine furniture, circa 1870.
Height 180 cm, width 130 cm, depth 50 cm.
A sideboard from the same furniture set bears a maker's plate.
