Around 1880.

Honoré Dufin has been a cabinetmaker in Lyon since 1876, first at 8 rue Saint-Dominique, then at 4 rue des Célestins from 1880 to 1884, and finally at 49 rue de la République in 1892.

He was awarded a Silver Medal at the 1872 Lyon Universal Exhibition, followed by a Bronze Medal at the 1878 Paris Universal Exhibition.

He supplied three plates for the 1884 edition of "Traité théorique et pratique de l'ébénisterie d'après Roubo...": pl. 55 Buffet Renaissance, pl. 97 Crédence Henri IV and pl. 98 Petit Meuble Buffet (François Ier).

Dufin had acquired an outstanding reputation in the manufacture of stylish furniture.

Among other things, he placed great importance on the care given to both the structure of the furniture and its decorative finish.

Walnut is one of his favorite woods, enabling him to build strong furniture as well as fine carving and color.

Passionate about statuary art, Honoré Dufin's will in 1892 provided for the creation of a prize to be awarded each year to the most deserving student in the Sculpture section of the Ecole des Beaux- Arts de Lyon.

The Fabius Frères Collection owned two pieces of furniture by Dufin: a middle table and a double cabinet, both in carved walnut (Sotheby's).

Delivery possible.
